Troop 9945 Early Days

Troop 9945 came about because of the demand from friends and family members of our Boy Scouts.

When Cub Scouts began accepting girls, we had Scout aged girls showing up at our meeting room door asking to join. We created a girls' interest group and for much of 2018 they participated in Troop 3945 activities to the extent allowed by Scouts BSA and by our local council here in Pittsburgh.

In February 2019 Troop 9945 became an officially recognized BSA Scout Troop. Before the end of that month the Girls attended their first Klondike Derby, competed and won against a field of more experienced Boy Scout—the boys were almost uniformly nice and gracious in their loss.

Troop 9945 currently has more than 18 scouts, by the end of 2021 several of those scouts will reach Eagle.

These girls are focused and are on track to produce Eagle Scouts as a matter of course.
